The influence of green and the focus on the environment continues to expand globally. One sign of this is the number of organizations who have become certified in environmental standards (the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 14000 family of standards). This number continues to increase and companies have been requesting the same of their supply chain partners.

I wrote this in response to a friends inquiry about Outsourcing. The basic risks, concerns and strategy of outsourcing as I see them today are: The basic risks, concerns and strategy of outsourcing as I see them today are:

1.    Language Barrier - this often makes requirements gathering sessions harder. It takes longer which is more costly both in terms of capital dollars and opportunity costs.

When undertaking a project, it is necessary to understand both the business’s
corporate culture and its organizational dynamics (  competing or conflicting forces).
A project manager must work within these unwritten guidelines to be successful.
Often projects fail because of a project manager’s inability to communicate effectively, work within the organization’s culture, motivate the project team, manage stakeholder expectations, understand the business objectives, solve problems effectively, and make clear and knowledgeable decisions.
